We're Klovial

A small team from the West of Ireland helping people understand their investments better. Started in 2019 because frankly, the industry was doing a poor job of explaining things.

How This Started

Back in early 2019, I was having a pint with a friend who'd just inherited some money. He'd met with three different financial advisors and came away more confused than when he started. Each one threw around terms like "alpha" and "beta" without explaining what they actually meant for his situation.

That conversation stuck with me. The investment world had become so wrapped up in jargon that ordinary people couldn't make informed decisions. And that's ridiculous when you think about it – these are their life savings we're talking about.

So we started Klovial. The name doesn't mean anything particular, which is kind of the point. We wanted something that didn't sound like every other financial firm out there.

What We Actually Believe

Plain Talk

If we can't explain something in normal words, we probably don't understand it well enough. And if we don't understand it, we won't recommend it to you.

No Rush

Good investment decisions take time. We've never pushed someone to make a choice before they're ready. Your timeline matters more than ours.

Real Numbers

Markets go up and down. Anyone promising guaranteed returns is either lying or doesn't know what they're talking about. We show you historical data and explain what it might mean.

The People Behind This

Just two of us really, though we work with a few specialists when needed. We like keeping things small – means we can actually get to know the people we work with.

Oisín Begley

Founder

Spent fifteen years working for larger financial firms in Dublin before moving back west. Got tired of the corporate approach where everything was about quarterly targets. Now I spend my time actually talking to people about their money instead of filling out forms about it.

Investment Analyst

Joined in 2021 after working in pension fund management. Used to analyze portfolios worth millions but never met the actual people whose retirement depended on them. Here, I know everyone we work with. Makes the job feel real.

Why Ireland Matters

Working from Ballinasloe gives us a different perspective. We're not in the Dublin financial district where everyone's chasing the latest trend. Out here, people want to know if their investments will still be around when they retire, not whether they're beating some benchmark by 0.3%.

The Irish market has its own peculiarities too. Tax treatment differs from the UK, our pension system works differently, and property plays a bigger role in most people's wealth. You need someone who understands these specifics, not just general financial theory.

Plus, we're around. If you want to meet in person, you can. Try doing that with an online-only platform when something important comes up.

How We Actually Work

Everyone's situation is different, but our process stays consistent. No magic formulas or secret strategies – just proper analysis and honest conversations.

1

Initial Chat

Usually takes an hour, sometimes two. We talk about what you've got, what you're hoping to do, and what keeps you up at night. No charge for this – if we're not a good fit, better to know early.

2

Analysis

We look at your current setup, check if it makes sense for your situation, and see where things might be improved. Takes us about a week. Then we meet again and walk through what we found.

Ongoing

Markets change, life changes, plans change. We check in quarterly unless something major happens. Most of the time everything's fine, but when adjustments make sense, we'll explain why.
